For generations, Sri Lankan families have begun the day with the litha — checking the nakath, minding the rahu kalaya, matching porondam before a marriage. But a printed almanac speaks to everyone at once, and therefore to no one in particular. Grahachara was born from a simple conviction: everyone deserves their own sky.
Our story
Grahachara ("the movement of the planets") started as a question between friends in Sri Lanka: why does the deep, precise astrology of our tradition reach people only through generic columns and photocopied charts? The knowledge was never the problem — the access was.
So we built the tool we wished our own families had. One that computes your actual kendara from the actual sky at your birth — then explains it in the language you think in, whether that is Sinhala or English. No jargon walls, no recycled predictions, no pretending one paragraph fits a twelfth of humanity.
Today Grahachara is used across Sri Lanka and by the diaspora in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia and beyond — every calculation tuned to the user's own city and time zone, beneath the same sky.
What we believe
- Real calculations, always. Every chart uses Swiss Ephemeris planetary data — the same NASA-grade source professional astrologers trust — with the sidereal (Lahiri) zodiac, computed for your exact birth time and place. Nothing is copied from a printed litha.
- Plain words over jargon. A reading you cannot understand is not a reading. We explain the lagna, dasha and nakshatra in language you can act on.
- Both languages, equally. Sinhala is not a translation layer here — it is a first language of the product, from the daily nakath to your shareable kendara chart.
- Privacy by design. Your birth details are encrypted. They are yours; we simply do the mathematics.
- Astrology as a map, not a cage. Vedic wisdom reveals the map — you walk the path. We will always tell you honestly what the chart says, and never use fear to sell you anything.
